Dear Parents and Guardians:
I encourage you to continue speaking with your students about the importance of putting full effort into their schoolwork. Please know that extra help sessions are available and publicized. In addition, I will be informing you shortly of programs targeted to students with specific academic needs.
I am asking your assistance in supporting the student dress code as we move to the warmer days of the school year. Our dress code policy calls for clothing that is safe, appropriate and does not disrupt or interfere with the educational process. The Nanuet School Board has adopted, again, for this school year a dress code that echoes the recommendations of the New York State Department of Education.
As you read through the guidelines under the Code of Conduct, I am sure it will become very clear that what is being asked is that students dress appropriately for school. Any clothing that pushes the limit toward excessiveness with regard to these guidelines will result in the student being addressed in accordance with the Code of Conduct. I am confident you would agree that these guidelines simply reflect sound parental/guardian judgment. I ask your cooperation and support in seeing that your children come to school properly attired and that such clothing will not become an issue between the home and the school.
Studying, academic achievement, challenging course work and participation in a variety of activities are issues that merit our best attention and support. Distractions regarding the dress code will only take away from all of our efforts to have the best education possible available to all of our students.
Thank you for your cooperation.
The third quarter report cards will be mailed out on or about April 11, 2014. If you do not receive your son/daughter's report card by that time; please call the school at 627-9826, and a copy will be sent to you immediately.
REMINDER - School will now be in session on Tuesday, April 22 as a make-up day for February 5, when we were closed due to the snow.
